Ann Curry: The president's chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, lit the national menorah in Washington on Sunday night. More than 1,000 people braved the cold rain to celebrate the Jewish Festival of Lights.

Lester Holt: The eight-day Jewish Festival of Lights known as Hanukkah began at sundown Friday, and late today on the Ellipse in Washington, White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel lit the national menorah. The 30th anniversary of the first such lighting presided over by President Carter back in 1979.

Don Lemmon: I want to tell you now about some history in front of the White House late this afternoon as the White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel took part in a special ceremony, the lighting of the national Hanukkah menorah, at the memorial there. The eight-day Jewish festival began Friday. Today marked the 30th anniversary of the ceremonial lighting in our nation's capital. It's a beautiful ceremony and a really nice speech by the chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel.
